DRAWING ON GLASS - FROST DRAWING FOR THE LIBRARY
Gosia Wlodarczak 2011
Title:
FROST DRAWING FOR THE LIBRARY
Medium:
Pigment marker on glass
Size: variable

Description: This residency project was commissioned by LUMA / La Trobe University Museum of Art in collaboration with the La Trobe University Library. Performance drawing process on the glass wall at La Trobe University Library, Bundoora Campus, Melbourne, Australia. Four sessions, four hours each, 21 - 24 March 2011

Statement:
During the performance hours Wlodarczak drew directly onto the glass panes of the stairwell. Her drawing, continuous for each four hour session, recorded momentary views – each time she moved her head or repositioned her body, the view changed, and so did the drawing. The end result is a combination of fleeting, abstracted impressions (of her environment) and more sustained and recognisable studies of the objects and people surrounding her. The work will remain in place for the rest of the year, a visual document of a single week in the life of the La Trobe library.
